Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I visit the dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends patients visit the dentist at least two times each year in order to achieve and maintain the optimal level of oral health.
What sports do I need to wear a mouthguard for?
Patients should wear an athletic mouthguard (sportsguard) during any activity where their smile may come in contact with other players, hard surfaces, or sports equipment.
Do I need to have my wisdom teeth extracted?
There is no right oral health plan for every patient. We carefully assess the development of patients’ wisdom teeth, and we only recommend extraction when we believe this is necessary to protect their overall oral health.
Does teeth whitening work?
Our professional grade in-office and take-home whitening treatments are effective in most cases. Before we begin whitening, we’ll carefully examine patients’ smiles to determine whether they are a good candidate for whitening. If not, we may recommend an alternative like porcelain veneers.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are small, titanium implant posts inserted below the gum line that replace the root system of lost teeth. We are able to restore any number of teeth with this versatile tooth replacement solution.
How do FastBraces work?
FastBraces are able to cut the time of orthodontic care in half by exerting force on the roots and crowns of teeth to move them simultaneously rather than moving first the crown then the root of the tooth.
Why should I visit the dentist for sleep apnea treatment?
In many cases of obstructive sleep apnea, the dentist is able to offer patients a more comfortable, portable alternative to CPAP therapy for sleep apnea.
